These Temperature and Pressure relief valves (T & P) are designed to discharge excess pressure which builds up inside sealed systems during the heating cycle. If the water inside the cylinder reaches above 90?C the T & P valve will discharge the hot water protecting the cylinder and components from excessive temperatures. During normal operating conditions nothing will be discharged from the valve.
